Follow us on Twitter: @TechInRL AirPods 2! (New 2019 AirPods) Welcome to my short video about the new AirPods apple released on March 20, 2019. The new version of the AirPods aren’t particularly revolutionary, but they do appear to be evolutionary, so stay tuned to learn about all the new features! The first new feature seems to be one of the best and biggest. They now have an optional Qi wireless charging case that seems to look just like the one in the AirPower promotional images apple used last year. Yet as of the making of this video, there is no word on the AirPower charging mat. But for those of you looking to wirelessly charge your AirPods, now you can either purchase them with the charging case, or just purchase the wireless charging case separately if you already have AirPods. The case is set to sell for $79 USD, or $199 when bundled with the new generation AirPods. The next new feature is the hands-free, hey Siri, capability that’s been in the rumour mill for a while. Theres’s supposed to be new additional accelerometers built into the AirPods to determine when you’re talking so they know when to listen for the hey Siri command. It sounds like a neat feature, but I’m not sure how useful it will be in the real world, as most people I know don’t use Siri with their AirPods. So far I’ve found controlling AirPods with Siri to be more of a hassle than a benefit, as you have to have an internet connection to use Siri, and that’s just not always feasible. In my use I don’t have a network connection when I use them on the subway. And what about people who use them with a non cellular apple watch away from their iPhone? I do look forward to testing this feature out though to see if it helps improve the AirPods Siri experience! The 2019 AirPods also sport the new H1 chip that’s supposed to provide longer battery life and faster connection to your various devices. According to apple the H1 chip will deliver up to 50 % more talk time and speed up switching between devices making connection times twice as fast compared to the original AirPods with the w1 chip. You now have three options when you go to purchase AirPods. First you can purchase the new 2019 AirPods with a standard non wirelessly charging case for $159 USD, second you can purchase them with the Wireless charing case bundled in for $199 USD. And if you already have AirPods, you can purchase the wireless charging case by itself for $79 USD. It’s worth noting that regardless of which case you get for the AirPods, regular or wireless, that they both still come with the lighting charging port at the bottom! I’ll be purchasing the new AirPods with the wireless charging case to review in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for my full review!!
