Carry Ol Gaming's video: Big Snake in the Canal While Go Fishing

@Big Snake in the Canal While Go Fishing
Big Snake in the Canal While Go Fishing Our warmer weather means it’s snake season in the Cape. No, you shouldn't shudder. Snakes are not our enemies. Ever since that piece of fake news involving Eve and the apple, snakes have had a bad press. After a damp and chilly winter our snake population is emerging from hibernation, and they’re probably feeling quite hungry. We should be very grateful about this because snakes are our best defence against the rats and mice that spread nasty diseases. We need them. We also need to bear in mind that snakes do not attack. They don't attack people or dogs or cats. They are non-confrontational and will always retreat if they encounter a threat. They will defend themselves if they think they are threatened and that's when people or pets get hurt. The simple rule to teach every member of the household is to leave snakes alone. If you see a snake, give it plenty of space and allow it to move off. Which is what it will do. I happen to be a great admirer of snakes. If you do encounter one, take a careful look at the way it moves (from a respectful distance, of course). If you're a regular gym attender you may think you have pretty fine abdominal muscles, but try this: lie on you tummy with your hands behind you back and propel yourself across the floor simply by flexing and unflexing your abs. That’s how a snake moves. Difficult? Now try climbing a tree like that. I think snakes are about the most graceful creatures on the planet. Even the best ballet dancers in the world look lumpy in comparison to a cobra. Seriously, do be kind to snakes. If you don't want them in your garden don't provide hiding places such as piles of rubble. If you want one removed from you property, I suggest you call Shaun MacLeod who is director of Reptile Educational Awareness Consultants (REAC) and has a licence to rescue snakes that are being threatened by humans.
