At the end of Chapter 1 the mercenaries met an old friend. By using some form of dark magic, he had frozen them in place and had given them this message. Dialogue: “I believe you know who I was, but I think you must understand who. I. AM. It is hard to trust anyone, you look to your left and you may see a friend. But the truth is, everyone has their own motive. This is a world ripe for the taking. If you were here to make friends, you have come at the worst of times. The monarchy that consists of a fat royal bastard is so arrogant in his dealings that it truly is a wonder on how their empire expects to upkeep their “traditions”. The younger generations lack conviction. They have become disillusioned and nihilistic. The children of these lands were told that they can become nobles but the SYSTEM does not allow this. The SYSTEM has made them slaves. But no, the official term is a “Ward”. The definition of a ward is an individual taken in by a noble family. By the gods, how unusual. I don’t remember reading this in the history books. Oh, wait I did. When the dark elves had ruled the realms, they were defeated by their own incompetence. The slaves had an uprising and the same is going to happen AGAIN. You think the same system favours the denizens of the human kingdoms, don’t you? No, they are their own slaves. Their life is an ILLUSION and they don’t realise that is the 99% whom suffer with their superficiality and their consumerism. LATE. STAGE. CAPITALISM. Those are the words thrown around in the human lands by the educated. They are collapsitarians. They are Doomers. They have no faith in this empire. And why should they? What has the empire ever done for them? I could tell you what they have done to me. But I don’t need to, because you will see for yourself. You will learn as I have learned the sins of immortality. It is time for a reform. My brethren are in chains. Their cities are occupied by the filthy HUMANS. It is a smell mercenary! The smell of cowards. Aegnor, the king of this realm is preparing his troops. His ancestor once ruled the regions you know? But he is no king. He is the one who let the empire rape and pillage this realm. Do not listen to him. Listen to me. I am the necessary evil. I am the one that will bring balance. I have found something, mercenary. Something that has given me great power. It is a gift of the gods. They have chosen me, as a prophet. I am the one who will do it. I will be the one to destroy the empire. My followers will rally, perhaps. You will be one of them. THE SINS OF THE FATHER MERCENARY. THEY WILL BE ANSWERED. The world will be purified and I will be the one at the front gates. Because this is my song, my story, my ballad.
