Kamli is the story of an apparently half wit woman who perhaps manages her living by picking rags and waste(raddi etc) but keeps herself untidy and dirty and the face and arms etc is kept soiled and dirty by her. The short story shows her busy with her rag and raddi waste while a Mason comes there notices her and sits some meters away. Her trying to hit some jamuns( BlackBerry) down with stone fails and she start eating a mango that she had kept with her. However when she accidentally expose her legs the Mason realises she is fair skin beauty and tries to molest her...but she runs from there before he could succeed and after running away she reached a tubewell. She quenches her thirst and feels the cold water soothing so splashes water on her face etc. All dirt gets washed away and she admires herself in mirror. Suddenly she saw someone coming towards tubewell so she immediately soils her face and arms again and with fear in her eyes she hides herself behind the branches of a tree. The visual ends with a question ...Why ?
