Hello YouTube ladies and djents, Mitch here... happy birthday Joanna! :) This month we bring you... DRAGON ROOST ISLAND. Kristopher, our pianist, has a way with arranging these songs in fairly unconventional ways which seems to bring a new life to these songs which have been covered a seemingly large number of times. It's always a joy to get to be a part of these projects with such talented musicians! This rendition of Dragon Roost Island felt very proggy to me, and I loved being able to lay down some more hectic rhythmic ideas. This song jumps feels... 6/8 feel... 5/4 feel... etc. It was really fun! Pay close attention to those epic triplets masterfully played by Anthony! Also, I'm still amazed whenever a violist or violinist holds their instrument without any hands... is that weird? Joanna, I'm impressed.
