Un juzgado federal ordenó a la Procuraduría General de la República (PGR) reabrir el caso Tlatlaya y también investigar lo que verdaderamente sucedió el treinta de junio de dos mil catorce en San Pedro Limón, estado de México, puesto que entre otras muchas cosas la parte quejosa estimó que no se estudió la cadena de mando militar responsable y se incurrió en diferentes omisiones. El juez determinó además de esto que para eludir la fragmentación, la PGR debe integrar todas y cada una de las inveriguaciones en un expediente.
