Wolverines, Wolves and Bears at Järvzoo 2018 - Järvsö Travel Guide. Järvzoo, or Wolverine Zoo, is a zoo in Järvsö, Sweden, which has a large collection of Nordic animals. These include the major carnivores of Sweden like the wolves, arctic foxes, red fox, bears, lynx, and wolverines. The entire park is located in the forest, which simulates the animals natural habitat, and you walk on a 3 km long boardwalk and can get up close with the animals. 3 km is about 1.86 mi. The park offers the visitor to watch the feeding of the animals, starting with the herbivores around 10.30 and moving on to the carnivores in the afternoon. There are resting places along the boardwalk, bathrooms and even a café at the halfway point. Inside the main building, there are exhibitions that offer information on 5 carnivore species like wolves, wolverines, lynx, bears, and humans. You can also purchase stuffed animals, toys, memorabilia and much more. One thing that I love about being here, is that the boardwalk and forest walk is so peaceful and calming. And when you sit down to have some lunch, snacks or just want to catch your breath, there’s a good chance you’ll get a visit from a red squirrel. They are used to people and some of them can even jump up and sit on your shoulder... Probably because they want your snacks. One feature of Järvzoo that I really would love to try someday, is the Varghotellet, or Wolf Hotel. The hotel room have these huge panoramic windows from ceiling to floor, and faces straight out into the wolf pen. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night seeing the frothing mouths and fangs of a hungry wolf... would you be scared? Järvzoo is open 365 days a year and the admission is really affordable. Adult: 220:- (22 usd) Children 5-15: 105:- (10 usd) Children 0-4: free admission Family : 595:- (61 usd) At Järvzoo the animals are the focus, and everything is on their terms. They have a lot of hiding places, and it’s up to them if they want to be seen or not. Some days you see every animal, some days most of them are hiding, but that is what so great with this zoo.
