NOIDA International Airport Update | Country’s first pod taxi will run in UP | The Dawn The Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), the special purpose vehicle for developing the Noida International Airport at Jewar, will take physical possession of 1,334 hectares of land for the first phase of the project by the end of this month, officials said on Wednesday. The construction work is likely to start at the site by the first week of August. The work on the ambitious project was supposed to start by June this year, but it got delayed due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the officials said, adding that the Prime Minister’s Office will soon announce the date for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the project. Once the work begins at the site, the project will become operational in 36 months as per the timelines. Swiss firm Zurich International AG, the concessionaire of the airport project, will invest ₹30,000 crore and has got 40 years to fully develop this project. Under PPP model, the concessionaire will design, build, finance, operate and transfer the project to the government after 40 years. The airport will start with two runways by 2024 under phase I and it will have five runways on completion to full capacity. Keeping in view the metro connectivity between Film City to Noida Airport, Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Limited on Tuesday submitted the final DPR to Yamuna Authority for driverless pod taxi which will run 14 km from Noida Airport to Film City. The distance of Film City from Noida International Airport is about 5.5 kms, to increase its utility, it has been suggested in the DPR to take its track in the sectors of YIDA also. This pod taxi will run between Noida Airport to Film City via Yida Sector 21, 28, 29, 32 and 33. Its stoppage has been fixed in every sector so that it can land in any sector coming from any corner of the world to Noida Airport. Like London’s Heathrow Airport, pod taxi facility is available for air passengers at airports in only four countries of the world. Apart from London, it has been decided to develop this facility for the convenience of the passengers coming to the Noida International Airport on the instructions of the State Government to provide connectivity facility for the convenience of the passengers at the airports in Dubai, South Korea and Virginia. Yamuna Authority has given its consent for laying elevated track parallel to Yamuna Express for bullet train. The bullet train will run on the elevated track parallel to the Yamuna Expressway leaving Delhi and passing through Gautam Budh Nagar, Mathura and Agra. The work for laying the elevated track is expected to start from August. The target has been set to complete the first phase of the bullet train by 2024-25. It has been decided to do this work on a war footing with the intention of giving the gift of bullet train to Delhi, Noida and nearby passengers traveling from Delhi to Noida airport by 2024.
