The Digital Painter's video: Sketchbook Handbags Made Simple

@Sketchbook Handbags Made Simple
For you all who know me, I always try to respond to my YouTube video comments. It's important that people know that I do read just about everything that is posted there, and that I'm willing to respond to the best of my ability. I truly appreciate the comments I receive, and I also like giving back to people. So this week it's all about Sketchbook handbags. Truthfully, the post mentioned handbags, but what the writer really wanted was some insight into drawing everyday objects. And how to get smooth curves and bends while they draw. Sketchbook Handbags Are Easy I will be honest, I was a bit scared creating this video. It's been a while since I worked in Sketchbook Pro. I love it for sketching my theatre design thumbnails and preliminary sketches, but I don't generally use it for art or finished theatre renderings. Admittedly I was out of practice, and was sure I would come across as a hack. To my surprise I picked right back up where I left off in the program, and sketching a handbag took me no time at all. Sketchbook Pro is actually an ideal application for this situation due to tools that seem right at home creating industrial design type drawings. Though I show you a bit about the French curve tool, it really comes down to the Steady Stroke button. When used you are given a blue dotted line to lead your pen line through your curve. This allows for a smooth and natural looking curve. I know I have terribly unsteady hands, so anything that can help me keep my curves beautiful is well worth the money. On top of that, Sketchbook Pro is fairly cheap. At around $25.00 a year, it's not going to break anyone's bank. So go ahead and give it a try. And let's see how your handbag turns out.
