Super Smash Bros Metagame is Divisive like Star Wars the Last Jedi, My Review and Concerns. For the melee fans coming across this video, I am not a known melee personality but I am a long time player who was greatly looking forward to the long-anticipated Metagame documentary and was unfortunately unpleasantly surprised with the direction the film-making ended up taking. I felt the documentary prioritized a forced narrative over the more objective elements of what happened in Melee during the Five Gods era and really failed to capture why it was such an exciting and amazing time to be a melee fan and player. It also felt unnecessarily divisive for the fans, like Star Wars the Last Jedi. I didn't feel like the underlying message was in line with the spirit of the first documentary series. I'm not happy to be criticizing Metagame because I am such a fan of the first Melee documentary series, but I also thought it was important to present my alternative viewpoint to the narratives that Metagame weaves.
