Program Notes: Microphones we rotate in order of preference: * iSK Little Gem (Omni Capsule or the Cardioid Capsule / Best budget mic I've tried for in studio recording for flute ) * Audio-Technica PRO 37 ( Incredible ) * Samson C02 ( Budget plus you get 2 mics ) * iSK Pearl ( What a insane mic ) * Sennheiser e614 ( Amazing mic ) * Sennheiser me62 and me 64 ( great system warm sound ) * Audio-Technica AT2050 ( perfect with pairing any of these mics for a mid-side style recording ) We're going to try Meyers Pickup mic soon, but I've never been impressed with pickup mics for shows. Maybe this will change my mind. You can record to any audio interface or recorders that has an sdcard and most are quite good. We use tascam portable audio recorders. I wouldn't advise recording to a computer unless its another room as most pc's make noise, either from the computer itself or ever the power supply. Once your done recording you can unload to a pc and started editing. If video is involved always be sure to record in 48000khz for easy syncing up. Pick a Audio Editing software and start learning it. ie:audition, audacity, reaper etc. Play around with EQ Parameters and get your own taste. Then pick a tiny, tiny amount of reverb or go wild with it. It's all about your own taste. Develop your own secret sauce! For the first few mics. I have it elevated and pointed down at the middle of the flute about 1 to 2 feet away at a 45 degree (4-5 o'clock) We have a basement treated studio so sound is at a minimum. But not necessary. We have the mics mounted on the ceilings with magic arms so that we can just walk in and play with no wires on the floor. It can get crazy sometimes. Hope that helps.
