Fernando Nuñez is a third generation Candombe drum builder from Barrio Sur, Montevideo (Uruguay.) He is also a founding member of Candombe/ Jazz ensembles, La Calenda Beat and Suena Candombe. He has recorded and performed internationally with Hugo Fattoruso and Ruben Rada, two highly acclaimed Uruguayan musicians. Fernando is also an audio engineer, luthier, and DJ. His family's contributions to Afro-Uruguayan culture are evident in their prominence and reputation in the Candombe community. His father, Fernando Nuñez Sr. or "Lobo" as he is known, is responsible for inducting Candombe as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in UNESCO. Credits: Filmed by Marco F.
