The Hungry Hiker's video: DAY HIKING IN WASHINGTON STATE Burroughs Mountain in Mount Rainier National Park

@DAY HIKING IN WASHINGTON STATE | Burroughs Mountain in Mount Rainier National Park
DAY HIKING IN WASHINGTON STATE | Burroughs Mountain in Mount Rainier National Park // Looking for an up close and personal view of Washington State’s largest volcano that’s accessible by a day hike? At over 7800 feet, Burroughs Mountain sets up right against the northeastern face of Mount Rainier, right along the Winthrop Glacier. The landscape up here is otherworldly and very exposed. Make sure to get an early start to beat the crowds and don’t forget your sunscreen. Burroughs Mountain is made up of three sections: First Burroughs Mountain, Second Burroughs and Third Burroughs. The higher up and farther out we went, the more the crowds seemed to thin out. If you’ve got the energy, food, sun protection and the water, I highly recommend making the trek all the way up to Third Burroughs. The view of Mount Rainier was pretty spectacular the whole way on trail, but the views from the top of Third Burroughs were the most amazing and dramatic. We felt like we were so close to Mount rainier that we could almost touch her. On your way up, don’t forget to turn around and take in all of the views of the park including part of The Wonderland Trail, Fremont Lookout, Berkeley Park, Grand Park and Skyscraper Mountain. On a hot, clear, sunny summer day, this trail can feel like a slog because of it being exposed at a higher elevation and with all of the climbing. I assure you as long as you’re prepared with enough food, water, energy and sun protection, the views along the way and at the top (no matter which Burroughs you decide to stop at) will be worth it.
