DAY HIKING IN WASHINGTON STATE | Sheep Lake and Sourdough Gap via Chinook Pass on the PCT // Looking for a beautiful and snow-free day hike on the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington with an incredible view of Mount Rainier? Starting at the Chinook Pass Trailhead, Phat D and I hopped on the PCT and headed north towards Sheep Lake. From Sheep Lake, we continued hiking north towards Sourdough Gap. We continued on to the Bullion Basin Junction, just across from the Crystal Mountain Ski Resort, 7.4 miles from the Chinook Pass Trailhead. We had an epic view of Mount Rainier during lunch before turning around and heading back to the trailhead. We hiked this section of the PCT on Saturday, July 18. This section was snow-free, minus the small patch of snow on trail in the shaded tree section, 1 mile from the Chinook Pass Trailhead.
