@DAY HIKING IN WASHINGTON STATE | Ancient Lakes
DAY HIKING IN WASHINGTON STATE | Ancient Lakes // A two and a half-hour drive East of Seattle, Ancient Lakes is great place to go day hiking in Washington if you’re looking for warm, dry, relatively flat and fairly easy terrain. Ancient Lakes also makes for a great place to go backpacking. A Discover Pass is required here. Ancient Lakes is a popular collection of several dirt trails just outside Quincy, Washington with multiple access points, giving hikers and mountain bikers plenty of space to spread out and choose their own adventure. There’s the option to start at the upper trailhead (known as the Judith Pool Trail) or keep driving down Quincy Lakes Road to get to the Upper Ancient Lakes Trail, which takes you down towards the Dusty Lake and Ancient Lakes Basins. On this day, we started at the Judith Pool Trailhead, headed West towards Wanapum Lake, had lunch at the lake and then turned our day hike into a loop by heading back towards Dusty Lake. At Dusty Lake, we did a short scramble around the lake, hiked up and out of the Upper Ancient Lakes Trailhead and then did a 1.3-mile road walk back to the car. This route was about 12 miles with a little over 800 feet elevation gain total for the day. Location: Central Washington – Potholes Region (just outside of Quincy) Length: 12 miles, roundtrip Elevation Gain: 813 feet Link To Trail on WTA: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/ancient-lakes All music by Musicbed.com Get a FREE month of Musicbed: https://www.musicbed.com/invite/CEYrh Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/thehungryhiker Visit my Amazon Storefront to see all of my favorite backpacking and video gear: https://www.amazon.com/shop/kathleenlovesyoga ******* Get the FREE GUIDE - My 10 Favorite Pacific Crest Trail Thru-Hiking Planning Resources - Delivered Directly to Your Inbox http://eepurl.com/bL8fWz ******* DISCLAIMER: This video and description contain affiliate links, which means that if you click on one of the product links, I’ll receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.
