Let me take you on this divine travel journey to Ujjian Makaleshwar and Omkareshway Jyotirlinga with my family, in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain and Indore. An ancient city in India, and one of the seven cities which together were called 'Saptapuri', Ujjain is known for having one of the twelve Swayambhu Jyotirlingas. Lord Shiva appeared in this divine city of Ujjain in the form of Mahakal, where 'kal' denotes both time and death. In Ujjain, anciently, during Vedic times, 0-degree longitude also used to pass, from where sages and scholars used to determine time, etc. Hence the reference to 'Kal' or 'time' is used here. This is the only Jyotirlinga that faces south direction, a direction often associated with death and tantric practices. Temple Timings 4am-11pm Bhasma Aarti is performed every morning at 4 am in the Mahakal temple of Ujjain. This aarti is famous not only in the country but also in foreign countries. The time of the second aarti of Baba Mahakal is 7:00 am The cost for VIP Darshan at Mahakaleshwar is INR 250.
