Kinnaur Valley in Himachal Pradesh has its own unique way of celebrating the age-old Indian festival of Holi. The Holi festival of Sangla goes on for 3 continuous days, where Kinnauris of Sangla take rounds of Sangla village, dressed like characters from Ramayana. This is the most unique way I have seen the Holi festival being celebrated, morever Holi in the Himalayas became even more special with the view of snowy peaks all around. After 3 days of Holi, the 4th day is the Faag mela where no colors are used but Sangla village's Devta comes out of the temple and plays Holi themselves. It's like the festival of gods in Devbhoomi Himachal. I witnessed the celebration of Faag Mela at Kamru Fort's Badri Vishal Mandir.
