The Microscopic Channel's video: Crystal Growth Experiments Under Microscope

Be sure to leave ideas for future content in the comments below! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Today's video is an extended series of experiments, to study a variety of salt crystal growth methods under the microscope. Everything you see is in real time. The video shows a variety of tests to see how crystals grow under different heating/cooling setups. I also wanted to test how to light/configure the microscope for the best results. Eventually I will create a normal "Under the Microscope" video for crystal growth, and/or a short cut of the best moments from this video. There is some really fascinating phenomenon occurring around 24:35. You can see bits of crystal bouncing around wildly at some extreme speeds. Did not expect that. The first 3/4 of the video under 20x magnification, without a cover slip. Starting at 30:52, it's all 40x and under a coverslip. In order to heat the salt solution I used a custom mounting bracket attached to the microscope that allows it to be freely extended of the edge of a platform (like a desk or table). This allows me to move freely underneath the microscope slide to perform experiments like this. Next Video: An Insect! (as suggested by a viewer!) Have a good one! -The Microscopic Channel
