The historic guitar is a Martin D-28', 1941 model that is one of Neils favorite guitars. Emmylou plays her Gibson Western guitar 1962 model, that she also used when she was in the folk Duo «Emerald City» in the early 60s.. She also wrote «Prayer in Open D» on that guitar playing in Open D and still ises it alot playing in open tunings. In 2018-2019 this guitar was on display at the Country Music Hall Of Fame, »Songbirds Flight» Emmylou Harris Exhibition. Emmylou and Neil have worked togheter many times through the years, Emmylou sang on Neil Youngs album «Stars and Bars» in 1977, Neil wrote the song Wrecking Ball and sang on Emmylous Wrecking Ball album in 1995, Emmylou also recorded his song «Long May You Run» in 1982 on her live album «Last Date». In 1994 Emmylou , Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt recorded Neil Youg’s song «After The. gold Rush»- Emmylou and Neil worked many times togheter through the years. The song this Old Guitar song is about Neil Young's close relationship with his guitar. Young has an old guitar which was once used by Hank Williams, who was a big influence on Neil. The song was released on the album Prairie Wind in September 27, 2005. After dalliances with 1960s soul music (Are You Passionate?) and rock opera (Greendale, which spawned a Young-directed film of the same name), Prairie Wind featured an acoustic-based sound reminiscent of his earlier commercially successful albums Harvest and Harvest Moon. The album was in part inspired by the illness and recent death of his father, Canadian sportswriter and novelist Scott Young, and the album is dedicated in part to the elder Young Young recorded the album in Nashville before undergoing minimally invasive surgery for an aneurysm in the spring of 2005, and some of the songs on the album appear to be informed by Young confronting his own mortality. A premiere live performance of Prairie Wind was held in 18–19 August 2005 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Here, Young held a two-night concert where songs from the album were performed.
