A great initiative taken by Indian Railways to protect and promote the GREEN INDIA. The locomotive has been manufactured by electric engineers at Katni Electric Loco Shed in Jabalpur division of West Central Railway. The capacity of this engine is 1200 horsepower. It weighs 180 tons and is 35 meters long. The maximum speed of the engine is 100 kmph and it can be increased up to 120 kmph. At the same time, the engine is fully powered by AC traction. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said it was a sign of a bright future for Indian Railways. The Navdoot battery-powered engine has been successfully tested. The locomotive will save foreign exchange on diesel and will also help in protecting the environment.
