The government, therefore, would like us to believe that everything is honky dory with the Indian economy. Till an year ago, Ms. Nirmala Seetharaman, Finance Minister, would ritually address the media taking great pains to explain what a wonderful job the government was doing on the economic front since the GST was growing. Two things which there bother us Indians are - 1. Ms. Seetharaman's monthly press briefings stopped all of a sudden. No one in the Modi government talks about the GST growth any more. 2. Prime Minister Modi, in one of election speeches last week, announced free rations for India's 80 crore poor for another 5 years. The dichotomy remains that while business seem to be showing healthy growths, the poor do not have money to buy one square meal each day. The GST story, therefore, seems to be a suspect. Are we really growing? Are businesses really doing all that well? In this episode I analyze the GST collections made by the government over the last two and a half years. Some startling facts come out - and so does the story that the Modi government likes to hide from all of us. No wonder the Modi government stopped talking about this and the poor in India have just gotten poorer. If you like the episode then please like and subscribe to this channel.
