As America moves into a new administration, we need innovative approaches to solve the pressing issue of undocumented immigrants living in our country. Health crises such as the coronavirus pandemic magnifies how vulnerable this population is and how critically important it is to know who resides in the United States. It is undeniable that undocumented immigrants play an essential role in the U.S. economy. Now there is a unique opportunity to provide the undocumented with the chance to get right with the law and for us to transform the immigration system into one that is more equitable, fair, humane, and flexible.
