I love FRIENDS so much! It's definitely first place in my favourite TV shows of all time! I have made this for Matt LeBlanc since today is his 54th birthday! So happy birthday to Joey Tribbiani! "How you doin'?" "JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD!!!" And speaking of Joey, I also love the FRIENDS spin-off which is named Joey so much! After FRIENDS ended back on May 6th 2004, LeBlanc signed on for the spin-off series, Joey. But the producers didn't think of a Joey Tribbiani spin-off as their first choice. First, they went to Jennifer Aniston, and tried to build FRIENDS spin-off around Rachel, Ross and Emma. She wanted nothing to with it. She declined. Which makes sense. Then, they went to Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry to build a show around Monica and Chandler. Neither of them wanted to continue playing the characters they used to love, and thought that FRIENDS was enough for them. They declined. A third idea was created and scrapped, possibly aimed at Lisa Kudrow to build a FRIENDS spin-off with Phoebe and Mike, but they knew Lisa Kudrow hated her role, and she probably just wanted to spend more time with her son. So in the end, NBC producers went, I guess we could try Joey. And they offered Matt LeBlanc $30 million. He accepted. The pilot episode of Joey first aired on September 9th 2004, four months and three days after the FRIENDS finale ended. The show follows the adventures of Joey moving to L.A to truly pursue his career as an actor-- same character, only different show and different locations. And a few new characters. It had Drea de Matteo as Gina Tribbiani, Joey's older sister. Andrea Anders as Alex Garrett, the next door neighbour and the woman who Joey eventually starts dating in season 2 of Joey. It had Paulo Costanzo as Michael Tribbiani, Joey's 20-year-old nephew. It had Jennifer Coolidge as Bobbie Morganstern, Joey's new agent. And it had Miguel A. Núñez Jr. who joined the cast in season 2 as the character Zach Miller. But he was absent for the last five episodes of season 2, including the Joey finale, because he found another job. Zach's absence within the show was not mentioned, nor was the character at all. And then the pilot episode of Joey was leaked online more than three months before it was set to air. And people were upset. They just didn't like it. At all. But I liked it. I have many favourite Joey episodes. All the Joey episodes make me laugh. On August 23rd 2006, NBC cancelled Joey due to poor ratings when it was overshadowed in ratings by American Idol. Sometimes I wish Joey had a third season, but other times I understand why Joey got cancelled after two seasons. FRIENDS is definitely first place in my favourite TV shows, but as for Joey, I would probably give that sixth place overall. Even though I prefer FRIENDS than Joey, I love both the shows so much with all my heart! Happy birthday to you, Matt LeBlanc! Joey Tribbiani is my favourite male character!
