Alright all y'all, it is time for another more talky video this time around. This is a video series that I had wanted to do for a long time, even though during conception of this idea I didn't realize that it was going to be more than one video. So today, we are just having an overview in the same way that I did my shopping addiction series. And what we are over viewing is the simple fact (in my opinion) that modern day marketing and consumerism is psychological warfare. Today marketing has been weaponized against us a means to brainwash us into thinking that acquiring more things has become the epitome of success and happiness. We no longer buy in order to live a better life, but instead live to buy so that we can be fulfilled by society's unrealistic standards. I understand that this concept is very much a two edged sword because I myself and a consumer. But through the recent months I have been trying very hard to break myself of my bad consumerist tendencies and make better choices when it comes to what I am spending my money on. As I said, this is simply the starting part of the series that I want to do and will be researching for each particular topic within this issue.
