The Road Abode's video: Downsizing for Living in a Van

In this episode of Van Life we talk about our experience with downsizing all of our stuff. WHY ARE YOU HOLDING ONTO STUFF?: 1) "IT WAS A GIFT" Don't feel obligated to hold onto something because it was a gift , It's better to RE-GIFT (to charity, friends) than to let THINGS you don't use take up attention and space. 2) "IT'S VALUABLE": If it's something you can sell, try websites such as Letgo, Offerup or Craigslist to make some money and space. If it was handed down many generations but it ends with you, many antique shops will purchase, renovate and put the item up for resale. Release yourself if the object is bringing you down. 3) "BUT WHAT IF I NEED IT LATER" If you are holding onto something you used once "that one time" you might be better off giving it away and seeing how long you can live without it, especially if it's something you can buy again down the road. Most often you'll forget you ever had it once it's gone. 4)"IT GIVES ME GOOD MEMORIES" This is a tough one. Some things are actually worth passing down or looking back on, but TIME is even more important. The time you take looking back on the good times can steal from your time to make new good experiences. Think of the upkeep and space-eating boxes of memorabilia that hasn't been sorted or looked at in years. Does it benefit you or bring you down?
