The Scouting Academy's video: Zack Martin Film Study with Guest Duke Manyweather

The ninth installment of our quarantine film study series. We HAD to get into offensive line play. We all understand the importance of the QB, but if you want to get the most out of the QB or any of the skill players you add, you better have a competent OL. To tackle such a critical position, we wanted to bring in someone who is hands on with many NFL and CFB offensive lines in Duke Manyweather of OL Masterminds. Duke is a former CFB player and coach who has built his own shop to cater specifically to the player, from skill development to opponent analysis. Duke wanted to see an offensive guard challenged by a defensive tackle aligning in a 2i technique which stresses set points. We found a fantastic, heavyweight matchup where this specific situation could be explored: Zach Martin of the Dallas Cowboys vs Fletcher Cox of the Philadelphia Eagles. We watched both 2019 games and studied how Cox’s various alignments and pass rush moves forced Martin to make in-game adjustments and in-play counters. We will talk through Martin’s hand use, body positioning, ability to direct and more.
