The Pod 3 Max comes with a 6-layer mattress that is designed to work with the feel of the cover. I would say the mattress is on the softer side, even with the Pod 3 cover. Setup of the Pod 3 max is easy; just ensure you have distilled water and some hydrogen peroxide hand as you will need that to prime the system. Setting up the interface is easy, and the app will walk you through installation step by step. I recommend downloading the app before even opening the box as the instructions are very detailed. Although the Pod 3 is expensive, there is no other device on the market that can do what it does. While similar devices like Chilipad can heat and cool your bed, Chilipad doesn't have sophisticated tracking like Eight Sleep. I also prefer the feel of the Eight Sleep Pod 3 cover over the Chilipad.
