The first song, Lavender’s Blue, is an English folk song written in the 17th century. The second song is Bāng Chhun-hong (Longing for the Spring Breeze) is a Taiwanese Hokkien song composed by Teng Yu Hsien. The lyrics of Bāng Chhun-hong describes the heart fluttering as if it were a lute being strummed and this is brought to life when The TENG Ensemble’s pipa (Chinese lute) player accompanies the voice when the lyrics are being sung. Reminiscence begins with the melody of Lavender’s Blue, before moving into a stirring rendition of Bāng Chhun-hong with the voice leading.
