The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has derostered the aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) who cleared the aircraft Boeing 737 to take off from Durgapur, the crew who operated this flight and the airline's head of maintenance control centre, pending inquiry ordered into this incident. The DGCA in fact, has taken a serious view on SpiceJet operating its Boeing 737 that had encountered severe turbulence during approach at Durgapur on Sunday. The regulator has also decided to inspect the entire fleet of SpiceJet. What was especially dangerous about the bad weather front that SpiceJet flight SG-945 ran into on Sunday evening was that it was a localised storm characterised by lightning, thunder, severe winds and strong precipitation.The flight was about to land at Durgapur airport when the aircraft began to hobble as the flight experienced massive turbulence following extreme bad weather, narrated an injured passenger.
