With Bengaluru - Belagavi almost completely electrified, the trains are expected to switch to electric traction within the next couple of months. Meanwhile, here's a quick video as a tribute to the roaring WDP4s which have served this route extensively over the last two decades. Train : 20654 Belagavi - Bengaluru Superfast Express Loco : Krishnarajapuram WDP4 Belgaum (ISO: Bēḷagāma; also Belgaon and officially known as Belagavi) is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka located in its northern part along the Western Ghats. It is the administrative headquarters of the eponymous Belagavi division and Belagavi district. The Government of Karnataka has proposed making Belgaum the second capital of Karnataka alongside Bengaluru, hence a second state administrative building Suvarna Vidhana Soudha was inaugurated on 11 October 2012. The Belgaum - Bangalore Superfast Express was launched in November 2019 as a back up to the overcrowded Rani Chennamma Express which runs between Bengaluru and Miraj. The train has gobbled up the bus mafia through its extremely aggressive timings and punctuality. The doubling of the route has played a major role in its run. The train covers the 469 km from Bangalore to Hubli in 6 hrs 45 mins and the 612 km to Belagavi in 10 hrs 20 mins at an avg speed of almost 60 kmph. In its return from Belgaum, the train stops at Yesvantpur as well and covers the distance in 10 hrs 30 mins at an avg speed of 58 kmph. This is expected to be one of the first trains to lose its diesel link post the completion of electrification.
