@CRAZY Amazon Forest Facts You DIDN'T Know!
From the insane and crazy wild fires in the Amazon rain forest, to the hundreds of tribes that live throughout the amazing and beautiful jungle! Number 8: Lungs of The World The amazon rain forest has received extra attention lately due to the recent fires that have occurred, which is one of the biggest environmental disasters to happen on our wonderful green earth. The amazon rain forest is known for its large production of oxygen, giving earth over 20% of its total oxygen generated. Some experts in that field say the number is a bit under 20% realistically, but either way, the amazon does in fact produce oxygen for all. The ones saying that the oxygen created isn't close to 20% are saying that our world does not rely on any forest to supply oxygen, and that it is actually much more stable then the mainstream media claims. Co2 levels on the other hand could be greatly effected, as the amazon forest absorbs almost 2.3 billion tons of carbon dioxide. Without the trees there to take in all these extra co2, it could create a rise in co2 levels. Theres been a lot of talk about global warming lately more then any time in history, and these kind of events do not help the situation at all. There are a ton of different companies and people aiding in the fight to protect our earths atmosphere and environment, as we can only hope that we can catch up to the damage were causing before its too late. Number 7: The Amazon Name A Spanish explorer named Francisco de orellana is said to of been the individual who gave the amazon forest the name it has today. the story says Francisco was one of the first people to sail into the great amazon river back in 1540. on his journey through the amazon, Francisco made 2 different trips. the first trip was a successful one reaching one end to the other. on his second expedition through the amazon, he sadly never made it back. the name amazon stems from a old battle between the Greeks and the amazons. this Greek legend describes the amazons as an amazing, brave and strong group of people. that was Francisco inspiration for the name amazon. Imagine the feeling of being one of the first people in the world, that you know of, to discover such a landmark in history and our earth. do you know why they dont play poker in the jungle? because theres too many cheetahs! Number 6: Multi Countries the amazon forest is extremely large, and expands over 9 different countries found in south america. this includes Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and the three Guyanas. thats pretty crazy to think about. The amazon covers an area over 2.1 million square miles, and has existed over 50 million years on this earth. Brazil is one of the most covered, with over 60% of their land that crosses into the amazon forest. Ecuador is one of the countries with the least amount of amazon forest, with less then 3% covering their land. thats quite the difference from Brazils 60%, but it still counts. Bolivia holds about 230,000 miles of rain forest, which is a little over 5% of their total land as well. Its pretty amazing to see such a vast amount of forest just expanding into so many different countries. what do you call a joke about the rain forest? tropical humor! Number 5: Most Poisonous Frog The amazon is home to many crazy, dangerous and exotic forms of life, so theres no surprise that the most dangerous frog in the world has a home in the amazon rain forest. The dart frog has skin coated in a variety of crazy colors, many which are neon and vibrant. The dart frogs are very small, being anywhere from a few centimeters long to a couple inches at most. Usually the smallest and most colorful species are the most dangerous, especially in the dart frogs case. These frogs can be found across all the lands of south and central america. The amazon rain forest gives these frogs the perfect environment to make a lovely home, and give them a perfect place to multiply and surround the area. The dart frogs love to eat ants and mice just like any other frog. The frogs do have problems with construction and work being done in the amazon, destroying their homes and places to stay. Humans have always had a way of destroying the environment, and with little to no regulation for anyone to do anything about it down there, it will be no surprise if it continues with no cares about the environment or the world we live in today.
