@Failure is Impossible: The Life and Work of Susan B. Anthony
Susan Brownell Anthony was a pioneer leader in the fight for women’s suffrage, and she worked tirelessly for what she considered to be in the best interests of womankind. In 1878, Susan submitted a proposed amendment to Congress to gain the right to vote, but women didn’t win that right or hold elective office until August 26, 1920. The American Women’s Suffrage Movement stands as a lasting affirmation of our country’s democratic promise for it re-emphasizes the importance of the most fundamental democratic values: the right to vote, and the possibility of peaceful yet revolutionary political change. In 1971, Congress enacted Women’s Equality Day to celebrate the passage of the 19th Amendment, and to call attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality. Join the USAHEC, as we celebrate Women’s Equality Day with a first person performance by Linda McKenney portraying Susan B. Anthony! Linda McKenney brings Susan to life and takes her audience on Susan’s journey from childhood to her death, by providing snippets of her life and roles in the Temperance, Abolition, and Women’s Suffrage Movements. Linda is a Senior Wellness Coach, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Story Teller. Her creative non-fiction is published in numerous print material.
