Typhoon "Vongfong" -- known as Ambo in the Philippines -- made landfall over San Policarpo, Eastern Samar at 04:15 UTC (12:15 LT) on May 14, 2020, bringing violent winds and heavy to intense rains over the northern portion of Eastern Samar. Northern Portion of Samar and the southern portion of Northern Samar will be affected by the eyewall in the coming hours, PAGASA warned at 06:00 UTC. This is the first named storm of the 2020 Pacific typhoon season and the first to strike the Philippines in 2020.
