TheDobermanGuy's video: You want a DOBERMAN But are you ready Check this

@You want a DOBERMAN? But are you ready? Check this!
If you want a Doberman because you want protection, you need to know that Dobermans were originally bred to be protectors and If someone tries to bring harm to you, most of them will defend their owners, but not all of them are good at it. A Doberman is a working dog but they don’t like to be just a security system, they need to be part of your life. If you can’t build a strong relationship with a Doberman, then you should choose a different kind of breed. Dobermans are not for everyone. They are very intelligent dogs and learn quickly but they need owners who are willing to work with them. They don’t generally like to sit around all day with nothing to do. They love to be active and be part of your life. They like regular exercise and they excel in obedience training and agility, plus many other things. Because of their short coats Dobermans are not well insulated so they don’t like to stay outside for long periods of time in the cold, and the heat can be dangerous too. They need to live primarily indoors but they love to go outside with you for walks and other forms of exercise. The best way to deal with this, is to have a fenced yard so they don’t get carried away and have an accident while being outside. When they are still young they need owners who know how to handle them properly, someone who can be firm but not harsh! Dobermans love to do everything they can to please you, and sometimes even when you are impatient and don’t take the time, they still try to do it, but they can’t read your mind. If you start yelling every time they don’t understand your rules your relationship is doomed forever, and you’ll never understand one another. You need to show your Doberman what you want from him. If don’t know how to do it, there are plenty of dog training schools available. You must remember that dogs are pack animals. You need to assume leadership of the pack. If you don’t, your Doberman will! You must be the leader, teach and enforce the rules. If you don’t know how to do it ask for help from a professional dog trainer. Although A Doberman is intelligent He was born as a dog, and still is one. They can’t move into your home and read your mind to know what your rules are. Unless you work with your Doberman he will make his own rules and those are not to be same yours. No dog can be 100% trained over night. It’s funny that people take years to raise their children but expect perfection of their dogs immediately! A relationship and training takes time. You need to learn to communicate with your Doberman in language he can understand and that takes time, but when you connect each other you will feed a satisfaction and reward that I can’t explain. So, if you are a person who expects to take home a Doberman and that he will just know what to do, and you have no patience or time to deal with communication and relationship, then owning a Doberman, or any kind of dog, is not for you. Adopt a goldfish or a turtle! Does your job require you to travel a lot? If so, what will you do with your doberman when that happens? Do you have someone that will take your dog when you’re out? They can’t be left alone for days! They need someone to feed them and be taken outside to go to the bathroom while you are away. You can still have a Doberman, they will wait for you when you’re away, but you need to have a trusty person to take care of him. Just as you would not leave a child without a babysitter or give up a child just because you travel, you must think of a dog in the same way and plan ahead. Also, if moving could be in your future, there are plenty of places that will accept dogs, but again, you need to think about that before you have a dog. It is very hard to have a happy home and then be given up.. Dogs have no use for money but it does cost money to own one. Dobermans don’t eat that much but their food will still cost you money. They will need veterinary care at least once a year for their scheduled shots and it’s always best to plan for emergencies. Sometimes they get sick or wounded and need to see the doctor. Sometimes they develop more serious health issues like a low thyroid and need daily medicines. As they age Dobermans usually need more medical care just like humans do. Please don’t get a Doberman, keep them until they are old and then discard them because you don’t want to deal with the ageing aspects. Dobermans live for 10 to 12 years so plan on a long commitment. They like to have good things to chew on, like Kong Toys and those puzzle toys where they have to figure out how to get smaller toys out of a bigger one. They love people, love to be admired and they especially love humans that adopt Dobermans. Their owners and families are their life. Now, if you have taken the time to go over these questions and still think a Doberman is for you, go ahead! You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for watching and see you on the next one!
