TheHonoluluPD's video: 2019 Police Week: Sergeant of the Year

Sergeant Dan Nakasato is a 20-year veteran and assigned to the Information Technology Division (ITD). In January 2018, after coordinating the successful completion of the body-worn camera (BWC) pilot project, Sergeant Nakasato compiled and analyzed the data and feedback from participating officers. He used that information to produce a project summary and recommendation to move forward with the program. In addition to his duties in the ITD, Sergeant Nakasato continues to assist the Major Events Division with natural disasters and large planned events such as the Independence Day celebrations, the Bruno Mars concerts, the H-3 Triathlon, and the Honolulu Marathon. Sergeant Nakasato is also the HPD’s go-to employee for technical support and expertise with existing traffic cameras and other monitoring systems regularly used by the HPD and in joint operations centers.
