@Wedding Videography Tips : PART 3 : Don't Overthink it!
Hi guys, This is a continuation of my "WHERE TO STAND" series of videos mostly aimed at people working with me shooting weddings. Like an in house kind of thing we can point new shooters to. At least to get everyone on the same page, cos wow... I think I'm quite outnumbered in this approach. Which is also why I made this video. ** I have to put right up here at the top though: Yes don't overthink it, but that doesn't mean not to give your best ! I always give 100% of my energy at weddings. At the end of each day I'm not only physically exhausted, but mentally exhausted. Because I'm always engaging with the people. Always trying to get the best shots (without being annoying about it). I literally laughed out loud at the 'being lazy' comment. Maybe they don't actually shoot weddings lol ** Anyway, you don't have to do everything like I do, but I think what I talk about here raises some great discussion points. If you come with counter points I can probably give you heaps of examples as to why I've probably already tried that, and still prefer to things this way! Feel free to have a chat either way. I also have packed in as many practical tips in this vlog as possible. So there might something in it for most shooters. I meant to put in some examples for each segment but i had to travel a lot this week so i left the vlog as is. However, there are already heaps of examples in the last 2 videos on this topic. And also even my last vlog has some wedding examples. These are just my tips to get the best out of my little sony cameras. So don't get offended if your way differs somewhat to this. Everyone's different. Maybe you could make a video as to why your way is better :p. If I owned something like a c70 id probably shoot differently. I'd shoot in clog and edit with the built in luts provided and also use the cameras built in nds. (except the data would be huge tho... 🤔) But I've been shooting Sony for ages, and this method is what I have decided to stick with, for consistent results. Sure, shooting in slog has become easier, with 10 bit colours and the gamma assist on the lcd. But it's still on the cumbersome & unnecessary side for me. So I'm still going to shoot weddings my way. I can't wait to get back to short film making though, which I will definitely shoot slog and have some dedicated artistic control. Gear used: Sony a7iv , Sony 50mm gm 1.2 , Tiffen Black Satin 1 , rode wireless go ii Music : Epidemic Sound (paid one of my bills lol) hashtags... bla bla.. no one's watching this anyway. Unless they are forced to lol.
