Hi guys! Here's a quick test I usually do whenever I get a new camera. And that is, some side by side shot comparisons and test out the picture profiles I use for weddings and events. I threw in an slog test or two just to make everyone happy also. My fav cine 2 and movie colours profile was largely used and tweaked on my a7iii so it goes best on that, but that's why I like to do these tests. After a few tweaks on mainly black level and phase we should be sweet. I don't like changing the colour depth of individual colours on these profiles unless I really notice something bad, ... and to be honest I'm tempted to look at the red channel of my a7siii in my cine 2 / movie colour profile after looking at these tests (ie make red in the depth settings a minus number like -1 or -2) , but in the real world, they all seem fine, it's just when you put things side by side like this and have a slightly off white balance that you start to notice things more. The A74 definitely needs a +1 or +2 phase (towards magenta) for movie colors) One thing about S-Cinetone, I will admit that in these side by side tests they do look great! There's just something about doing real world jobs with it, I notice it doesn't have the life and vibrancy of my other fav profiles. And in some cases, I can see the tones getting dull very quickly. Some brides don't look good dull and grey 🤷. But easy to fix and keep and eye on in the colour grade in your edit. So no probs there. I'll stick to my cine 2 and movie colours and just get them to match more. I rarely pull out the slog3 on weddings. Or HLG unless I insist on some more dynamic range for some reason.
