@A7RV :: One Game Changing APS-C Crop Photography Feature That No One Else Is Talking About !
Heres' a game-changing feature for all you Wedding and Event Photographers. Ok I think I got a bit excited and didn't explain this properly. So here's a full explanation in text: Firstly, if you are taking photos with the max resolution of 60/61 mp and then choose the apsc feature, the camera would crop in 1.5 times, and the resulting image would be 26mp. That's normal. That's the expected behaviour. (If you tried this on the a7iv I think it would be around 15-18mp? ). Now, what I've discovered is that if you set the full frame photo resolution to Medium Raw. ie just simply choose M Raw in the menu. The resulting file size would also coincidentally be 26mp. And it remains at 26mp REGARDLESS of whether you shoot full frame OR cropped in to apsc. So in practical terms it feels like a lossless crop! So to reiterate, if you set the camera to medium raw AND then choose apsc crop. The resolution will STILL stay at 26mp ! Now, why 26mp? A resolution of 26mp is the sweetspot for event photography, where we are often taking thousands of photos. It's a sweet spot because for human subjects, it's more than enough to deliver to clients even if they intend to print high-quality large frames. so basically what im saying is, if you start at medium Raw of 26 AND THEN choose to crop in. it remains at 26mp no matter what. since the camera has already 'downsampled' full frame equivalent images to match . maybe both being 26mp is a fluke. but the end result is. same pixel size for BOTH full frame and crop when you choose medium Raw (which I call 'downsampling' in this video) Sony a7rv Sony 24mm GM Music by epidemic sound
