The soulful ballad, released this week, follows on the heels of dancey chart favourite You Think You Got It Easy, featuring JR, which was recently licensed to the Global Dance label in Russia. A moving song about unrequited love and loss, 400 Miles wasn't originally intended for the album, Carver explains. It all started when she judged a lyrics competition, which entailed her picking a winner from thousands of entries and turning those words into a song. "The lyrics entered by Nicki Sutherland gave me goosebumps, they were so poetic... It inspired me to compose a truly beautiful track." Carver brought long-time collaborator Chris Tuck on board to produce the track and the finished product was so strong that she decided it belonged on her new album. "Chris knows a thing or two about creating space and depth with electronic music, and he really wove some magic around the piano and vocals," she says. The stark, striking video for 400 Miles was produced and directed by Greenwall Productions, owned by none other than Carver's oldest friend, Nicky Greenwall. "It was incredibly special to work with Nicky and I think we created something really timeless and beautiful. I can't wait to show the video to the world," says Carver, adding, "Isn't it ironic that a song that wasn't planned turned into what is possibly my favourite track off the album?"
