ThePressStartProject's video: Mega Man X Ep 04: Flame Mammoth

@Mega Man X, Ep. #04: Flame Mammoth
With the termination of Storm Eagle and the destruction of the Death Rogumer, X is ordered to infiltrate the industrial factory and eliminate Flame Mammoth who has turned the facility into an illegal weapons manufacturing plant. A former Maverick Hunter under Sigma's command, Flame Mammoth is known for his brute strength and arrogant attitude; he awaits at the end of the factory ready and anxious to destroy X. Flame Mammoth's stage difficulty depends on when you visit the stage, either before or after defeating Chill Penguin. Whichever time you decide to, the basic rundown is essentially the same, with the exception that if the stage isn't frozen, you'll have to watch out for the lava. Aside from the Buster Upgrade, this sage also houses a Heart Tank and an Energy Sub-Tank; however, the former can be claimed differently depending on the status of the stage (i.e. Boomerang Cutter vs Frozen Lava). Due note that once you get the Fire Wave, you can return to Chill Penguin's stage and claim the Heart Tank that's at the top of the cave within the first igloo hangar. NOTE: Yeah, I admit I got sloppy around those two Hoganmers... PS: The Snes9x has problems recording multiple transparencies. -STAGE DATA- ENEMIES: Scrap Robo / スクラップロボ Utuboros Head / ウツボロスヘッド Sky Claw / スカイクロー Dig Labor (AKA Degraver) / ディグレイバー Metall C-15 / メットールC-15 Rolling Gabyoall / ローリングガビョール Hoganmer / ホーガンマー BOSS: Flame Mammoth (Burnin' Noumander) / バーニン・ナウマンダー -Burning Oil Tank / 燃える油タンク- STATS: HP: 32 Ht: 10.5 ft (321 cm) Wt: 719 lb (327 kg) Weapon: Fire Wave Weakness: Storm Tornado Other Attacks: Jump Press; Oiling BACKGROUND: A former Maverick Hunter modeled after a prehistoric pachyderm and designed for heavy combat under Sigma's command, and leader of the 4th Ground Unit stationed in the middle eastern desert, Flame Mammoth wasn't exactly the bearer of good reputation. Boisterous and arrogant, Flame Mammoth enjoyed picking on those that were smaller and weaker than him regardless of partnership, and didn't care to use his brute strength at full capacity. Because of his attitude and character, rifts between him and Chill Penguin were created, seemingly creating an intense rivalry between the two. Upon Sigma's Maverick revolt, Flame Mammoth didn't think twice in joining his former commander, not due to loyalty to his superior, but mostly because he saw the rebellion as an opportunity to demonstrate his true potential. Seizing the ideal of freely using his power to cause chaos without any form of repercussion, Flame Mammoth followed his superior's orders and took over the industrial facility for the sole purpose of turning it into a weapons manufactory. MISCELLANEOUS: • Although Prototype Weapons Plant / 試作品の武器工場 is the official and most common name of this stage, it is also known as Factory Stage / ファクトリステージ. • The Dig Labor is based on the Pickelmen series; they can be easily beaten with the Shotgun Ice. • The Rolling Gabyoalls pertain to the Gabyoall series. The name "Gabyoall" is derived from the Japanese word "gabyou" meaning "thumbtack". • The Hoganmer is based on the Sniper Joe series; the name is based on the Japanese word "hougan" meaning "cannonball", which is what they use as a weapon. Interestingly, Hoganmers were meant to behave like Sniper Joes. -TRIVIA- • Flame Mammoth is based on the extinct species, Tusked Elephant (Elephas namadicus). • In the Mega Man X manga, Flame Mammoth is the 5th Maverick that X fought. An interesting fact about his manga counterpart is that it's completely different to the one from the game, where he's the exact opposite. The manga version was actually a small Reploid who got tired of others picking on him due to his size, and inevitably joined the Maverick revolt as a means to exert revenge on those that ridiculed him. He turned a new leaf after X defeated him, but his fate was sealed after the destruction of the factory. (Due note that this is a non-canon scenario.) • In the Mega Mission carddas released by Bandai, Dr. Doppler revived Flame Mammoth. In it, he's remodeled and renamed Burnin' Noumander L (Flame Mammoth L), where the 'L' stands for "limited". His appearance is altered from his original design to resemble a Straight-tusked Elephant (Elephas antiquus).
