ThePressStartProject's video: Mega Man X Ep 05: Boomer Kuwanger

@Mega Man X, Ep. #05: Boomer Kuwanger
After successfully infiltrating the industrial factory and disposing of Flame Mammoth, X's new orders are to recoup the tower, a beacon of hope, from Boomer Kuwanger by any means necessary. A former Maverick Hunter serving under Sigma, and partner of X, Boomer Kuwanger awaits at the top of the tower anxious to test X's potential. Following the last stages, this one could prove problematic to some due to the level design and enemy placement, but overall, it's pretty straightforward. It's a good choice to utilize both the Storm Tornado and Fire Wave in this stage due to their reliability. The Heart Tank in this stage can be obtained by two different methods: 1) by using a charged-up Shotgun Ice and dash-jumping off it at the last moment (as seen in the video) or 2) by coming back after defeating Boomer Kuwanger and using the Boomerang Cutter to claim the item. NOTE: The Snes9x has problems recording multiple transparencies. -STAGE DATA- ENEMIES: Hoganmer / ホーガンマー Dodge Blaster / ドッジブラスター Sine Faller / サインフォーラー Ray Trap / レイトラップ Mega Tortoise / メガトータス Jamminger / ジャミンガー Slide Cannon / スライドキャノン Ladder Yadder / ラダーヤダー Turn Cannon / ターンキャノン BOSS: Boomer Kuwanger / ブーメル・クワンガー -Space-Time Jumper / の時空ジャンパー- STATS: HP: 32 Ht: 7.93 ft (242 cm) Wt: 206 lb (94 kg) Weapon: Boomerang Cutter Weakness: X-Buster / Homing Torpedo Other Attacks: Dash; Teleport; Dead Lift BACKGROUND: Boomer Kuwanger, a Reploid modeled after a stag beetle and built for data collection and tactical combat, was once a Maverick Hunter member of the 17th Elite Unit under Sigma alongside his brother, Gravity Beetle, X, and Zero. Possessing an incredible logical processing AI, Boomer Kuwanger was easily the smartest of his Unit, and possibly of all Maverick Hunters. Having such advanced processing circuitry, he analyzed everything by logic, not having any distinction between right (justice) and wrong (evil), thusly prohibiting himself from any sense of sympathy. Due to his speed and cunning, he was a well-respected Maverick Hunter, but difficult to approach due to his nihilistic nature. Even though he was a Maverick Hunter, a group formed by Dr. Cain to better the coexistence between Humans and Reploids, Boomer Kuwanger felt nothing but hatred towards humankind. Upon Sigma's rebellion, Boomer Kuwanger didn't hesitate in joining his commander's cause based only on the logical rationale behind it. Afterwards, and by his own volition, he took over a nearby tower that was built as a symbol to the city, making it his fortress and base of operations. MISCELLANEOUS: • Boomer Kuwanger's title literally translates to "Murderous Iron Demon of Space-Time / 時空の斬鉄鬼", but the official translation is "Space-Time Jumper". • Although Fortress Tower / 要塞タワー is the official and most common name of this stage, it is also known as Tower Stage / タワーステージ. -TRIVIA- • Boomer Kuwanger is based on a Japanese stag beetle. In essence, a "kuwanger" isn't anything; its etymology derives from the Japanese word "kuwagatamushi", which is a Japanese stag beetle. The word kuwanger is simply a portmanteau between "kuwagatamushi" and "boomerang", with "er" as a suffix. • Given the fact that Boomer Kuwanger joined Sigma by his own accord, it's safe to say he wasn't infected by the Sigma Virus. • Boomer Kuwanger is the younger brother of Gravity Beetle (from Mega Man X3). • In the Mega Man X manga, Boomer Kuwanger was the last Maverick X fought, and the one that pushed his limits. In fact, his portrayal is completely different from the one seen in the game, as he was literally one with his tower; in order to surpass his limits, he linked his mind with the tower's motherboard, allowing him complete control over it and superiority over anyone that ventured in. He launched a devastating attack by making the tower appear from the ground up, destroying the city around it. (Due note that this is a non-canon scenario.) • In the Mega Mission carddas released by Bandai, Dr. Doppler revived Boomer Kuwanger. In it, he's remodeled and renamed Boomer Kuwanger L, where the 'L' stands for "limited". His appearance changes, having two additional blades protruding from each arm; his design resembles a giraffe stag beetle (Prosopocoilus giraffa). (Due note that this is a non-canon scenario.) • Boomer Kuwanger is NOT a combination of Cut Man and Quick Man, but could be seen as a cross between the two. — R20 Rockman & Rockman X Official Complete Works Rockman X (Manga) Rockman X MEGA MISSION Carddas (Card No. 08) All Mega Man X / Rockman X material including but not limited to game, characters, images, and music are © Capcom Co., Ltd.
