We quite easily and handily beat Adachi, one can only assume that either A: due to him being backed into a corner and having been possessed by his own world's unstable emotions he wasn't in a position to fight, since he uses a persona, not the power of the shadows, or B: He didn't level grind as much as I did. Nowhere near as much. Either which way that doesn't quite solve all of the issues, because as it turns out, there is, of course, someone behind Adachi, and Namatame and the MC for that matter, pulling the strings. Wouldn't be a proper JRPG if our group of not high-school students didn't end up punching some god's lights out, right? This, BTW, is the reason why I prefer A New World Fool over The Almighty. The latter sounds good, no question or doubt about that, but the whole "punch god's lights out" thing is getting a little old. Namatame and Adachi were normal humans that fought for what they believed in with just the powers they were given, and both were too far gone to really bring back from the brink of insanity. Or from the brink of differing opinions in Adachi's case. A New World Fool perfectly conveys that sense of complete loss of sanity, or something like that.
