TheSoutherner's video: 70022 Tornado resurrected on the English Riviera Express 02 08 2020

The second rendition of Saphos Trains’ ‘English Riviera Express’ for 2020 would see a change of motive power, as BR Standard 'Britannia' Class 7MT – 70022 “Tornado” (70000 "Britannia") took charge, with BR Class 47 - D1935 "Roger Hosking MA 1925 - 2013" on the tail. 70000 “Britannia” has undergone a makeover in order to masquerade as scrapped classmate 70022 “Tornado”. 70022 was allocated to Shed 86C, Cardiff Canton depot, during the late 1950’s – so with “Britannia” currently allocated to the South West to work a few railtours, the identity change is a pleasant homage to 70022’s working life. The tour would see 70022 at the helm throughout, working from Bristol Temple Meads through Yatton and Taunton, down to Kingswear on the Dartmouth Steam Railway and return. The cameras first caught up with "Tornado" outside Yatton, as the locomotive charged away from its scheduled stop at the station, before a jaunt south would see the locomotive thundering towards Cogload Junction at speed. Overtaking the consist while 70022 took on water at Taunton, the cameras once again caught the Brit hammering up the gradient towards Whiteball tunnel, before one final chase would see the locomotive attacking Goodrington Bank on the metals of the Dartmouth Steam Railway. A brief visit to Kingswear would bear witness to the shunt and release of 70022, and subsequent light engine manoeuvres, before catching up with the locomotive at Paignton amid servicing. To finish off proceedings for the day, the cameras caught "Tornado" striding along the sea wall at Dawlish as the consist made the return trip to Bristol.
