For their October timetables, the Severn Valley Railway have been operating a variety of titled services through the month. On Fridays, the line plays host to 'The Pioneer' and 'The Wanderer', both making three return trips over the length of the line from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth. While 'The Wanderer' features steam traction, 'The Pioneer' takes advantage of the spectacular collection of heritage diesels based on the railway. Class 52 'Western' - D1062 "Western Courier" had been rostered to work 'The Pioneer' service with 40106 "Atlantic Conveyor" for the day. However, following a late failure, sister locomotive D1015 "Western Champion" was called upon to work with the Class 40. The English Electric and Diesel Hydraulic locomotives top and tailing the service. Meanwhile, 'The Wanderer' was in the hands of 'Pannier Tank' - 7714 and Ex-Port Talbot Railway Tank - 813, as the pair double headed the service. Locomotives: BR Class 40 - 40106 "Atlantic Conveyor" BR Class 52 'Western' - D1015 "Western Champion" Ex-PTR Saddle Tank - 813 Ex-GWR 5700 'Pannier Tank' Class - 7714 All footage filmed on Friday the 23rd of October 2020.
