For someone who’s been a household name for as long as she has, it’s shocking how Britney Spears ended up where she is now, but she’s making her way through it. It’s crazy to think about, but Britney Spears has been under her conservatorship for 13 years and needless to say, it’s time for things to change. Britney suffered from a mental breakdown way back in 2007 when she checked herself into a rehab facility only to leave the very next day and shave her head, amidst a ton of other actions that were cause for concern. And while she may have done some questionable things back in the day, she’s more than atoned for her actions over the years. Since being under her conservatorship, she’s had little to no control of her finances, her estate, her music career, her health, and many aspects of her personal life. She’s had every big decision in her life made for her over the past 13 years and up until recently, there wasn’t much to be done about it. But on July 23rd, Britney made her statement in a virtual court hearing and it shook millions. She laid everything out on the table and opened up about what she’d been through over the years and many of us were hurt and angry on her behalf. Britney is not one to be played with and she’s making that known by choosing to fight for her freedom. And we couldn’t be more proud.
