"Steal My Show" was written by TobyMac, Christopher Stevens, and Brandon Heath and is the second track off of TobyMac's 2012 release...Eye on It. The LP is TobyMac's sixth studio album and won Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Eye on It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart. This was TobyMac's first No. 1 and only the third Christian album to open at that position. It also was No. 1 on the Christian Albums charts. Born Kevin Michael McKeehan and better known by his stage name TobyMac , McKeehan is a Christian hip hop recording artist. "Steal My Show" is a song about an offering to God to let Him take complete control of a show TobyMac is about to perform at. The song was inspired by the thought of four bands playing one night and one band playing much better than the other three, thereby stealing the show. When TobyMac's 5-year-old son heard the demo, he asked his father, "why would you ask someone to steal the show"? The artist replied... Dad's asking God to take the show and do something bigger than dad can ever do with it. Dad's asking God to "steal the show". Diverse City is TobyMac's band's name as well as the name of his second studio LP...Welcome to Diverse City. As the ballad progresses, it seems that God grants the authors request and makes his appearance..."So now the crowd is hype,That you showed up tonight,Anticipatin' cravin' somethin' more than smoke and lights,So I'll step out the way,I'll give You center stage,Alright,Spotlight,Give 'em what they came for". Now how cool would that be? We would simply reply with the song's chorus..."If You wanna steal my show,I'll sit back and watch You go,If You got somethin' to say,Go on and take it away,Need You to steal my show,Can't wait to watch You go, oh, oh,So take it away". "Steal My Show" is something any Christain would wish for. A wonderful song letting us all know that no matter what we are doing...no matter what out fame...we could never put on a show like He would. And if He were ever to show up, there could only be one way of advising him...give them what they came for.Classic Christian stuff.
