TheUglylucy4's video: Junior s Farm

@Junior's Farm
"Junior's Farm" was written by Paul McCartney along with his wife Linda (née Eastman) and was issued as a non-album single in 1974. Performed with McCartney's band Wings, it became a No. 3 hit in the United States. This was McCartney's last release on Apple Records before signing a solo recording contract with Capitol Records in 1975, following the dissolution of the Beatles' partnership. While recording in Nashville, the band stayed at the Lebanon, Tennessee farm of Curly Putman Jr., which accounts for the song's title. "Junior’s Farm" is loaded with McCartney’s whimsical lyrics...but seems to have little to do with Putman’s actual farm. Characters as diverse (and random) as a poker man, Oliver Hardy (Olly Hardy should have had more sense, He bought a gee-gee and he jumped the fence), an Eskimo and a sea lion pop up in the song’s verses. On the song’s chorus, McCartney gets more specific to his surroundings. "Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go, Down to Junior’s Farm where I wanna lay low. Low life, high life, oh let’s go, Take me down to Junior’s Farm". He and the band were certainly "laying low", warming up for a major Wings tour. "High life" and "low life" seem to sum up the dual worlds of rock stars...one minute partying in jet planes, the next relaxing in the country. Or "low life" might refer to the darker side of rock stardom. The old man at the grocery store line..."I took my bag into a grocer's store, The price is higher than the time before, Old man asked me why is it more"...seems like a character from rural Tennessee. Regardless of where McCartney drew inspiration for the song, it appears he enjoyed his stay on Junior’s farm. In one version of the single’s cover art, members of Wings crowd around a poker table dressed as "Junior’s Farm" characters. A question I can't seem to get away with when I hear the end of the ballad comes from the lines... "I wanna go back" or "I won't go back"...makes me think this was about the Beatles. And the part about the sea lion. Isn't that another name for a walrus? Great mystery from McCartney.
