TheUglylucy4's video: While My Guitar Gently Weeps

@While My Guitar Gently Weeps
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was written by George Harrison and is the seventh track off of The Beatles sensational 1968 eponymous release...The Beatles. The LP, more commonly known as The White Album, is the ninth studio album by the Fab Four. A double album, its cover is a plain white sleeve with no graphics or text other than the band's name embossed on it. This was intended as a direct contrast to the vivid cover artwork of the group's earlier Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. The White Album reached No. 1 on the charts in both the UK and the United States and has since been viewed by many critics as one of the greatest albums of all time. Harrison wrote "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" partly as an exercise in randomness after he consulted the Chinese I Ching (an ancient Chinese divination text and the oldest of the Chinese classics). The ballad serves as a comment on the disharmony within The Beatles at the time. The recording includes a lead guitar part played by Eric Clapton. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" tells the story (from Harrison's view) of a guitarist feeling lonely and bored because the love he once knew (from his band mates) is fading..."I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping, While my guitar gently weeps, I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping, Still my guitar gently weeps". The writer tries to parallel the loss of love due to fame and financial success (exactly what happened to The Beatles drifting apart)..."I don't know why nobody told you, How to unfold your love, I don't know how someone controlled you, They bought and sold you". The doubt in Harrison's belief of the four getting any better in the future is clearly seen (with a sarcastic touch) in the lines..."I look at the world and I notice it's turning, While my guitar gently weeps, With every mistake we must surely be learning, Still my guitar gently weeps". But surely they really weren't learning from their mistakes. As the lament goes on, I can almost feel the writer's disgust in the last lines. With no hope and certain doom on the horizon, the guitar that Harrison used to hear "sing", can now only "cry"..."I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping, While my guitar gently weeps, Look at you all, Still my guitar gently weeps". The Beatles would go on to release three more LPs...Yellow Submarine (1969), Abbey Road (1969), and Let It Be (1970). The Beatles broke apart in April or May of 1970. There was no public acknowledgement of the break-up until Paul McCartney announced on April 10th of 1970 he was leaving the Beatles. This version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" can be found on Santana's 2010 release...Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time.
