"Pull Me Out" was recorded by Christian Contemporary musician Bebo Norman and is the opening track off of his eponymously named 2008 release...Bebo Norman. The album is loaded with personal themes of coming out of depression, prayerful reflection and hope-filled expressions of joy in Christ. "Pull Me Out" is almost heavy enough to call rock and looks at faith from a surprising personal place. The inspiration to write "Pull Me Out" came when Norman was struggling with anxiety and depression. Written from a place of brokenness and inadequacy, the author is looking to God not as a means to an end but as the end itself. The lyrics show us a man who is walking out his faith one step at a time, not claiming to have all of the answers, but knowing the one who does. The main refrain is really all you need to hear..."I can’t get my feet off of the ground,I wanna run but I don’t know how,Can You reach down here and pull me out". How many times have we all been in that situation. "Pull Me Out" is a song about letting go of the earthly things that drag someone down and holding tightly to the things of Heaven that can pull us out. Letting go of the bitterness and pain of the past and hold onto God's amazing grace and mercy...and know that God's plan for us is greater than any of our daily issues. In other words, the ballad is a reminder that every day what we really need to do in this life and in this world is to simply trust in a God who is indeed completely in control.
