Flying the longest non-stop flight in India on Air India between Kochi and the nation's capital, New Delhi. Air India was reasonably okay on this flight although there is a lot to be improved. Air India, the national carrier of India, flies thrice daily between New Delhi and Kochi. The Delhi-Kochi route also happens to be the longest non-stop sector within India. Note that this flight was flown in October 2013 Scheduled flight time was 2 hrs and 55 min with actual flying time being the same. Scheduled time of departure was 07:25 am with scheduled arrival time being 10:20 am. My seat for this flight was 26F on the right side of the plane. The aircraft for this flight was VT-PPV, an Airbus A321-200. This flight was honestly a disappointment, but there were positives. The seat was great-nice and comfortable with a good amount of legroom. IFE wasn't switched on. For a 3 hr flight, no IFE is quite boring, but the magazine was a reasonably good read. However, the biggest disappointment were the crew, who were pretty unprofessional. During meal service, the crew curtly claimed to have run out of the non-veg option for the row behind me. However, upon reaching 2 rows ahead, the non-veg option was served again. It was a bit of a rude shock to get treated like that on a full service full fare ticket. The food wasn't bad though. I, who normally avoid South Indian breakfasts, found the sambar and upma to be very good. However, the rest of the meal was quite average. Airfare for this flight was 23K INR return as this was a last minute booking. Seat 9/10 IFE 4/10 Meal 8/10 Crew 3/10 Overall experience rating : 6.0/10 I have flown Air India multiple times. The ORD-LHR-BOM sector, the COK-BLR sector and the BOM-COK sector, and have been satisfied by the service I got. However, this flight goes down as being quite unpleasant and disappointing.
